Installing Residential Fire Sprinklers Since 1987

Sprinkler Piping

Your fire protection system is composed of a complex array of sprinkler piping. To ensure that your system operates effectively, you must follow some essential rules about its care.

Important Information Regarding Sprinkler Piping:

• Do not sit, stand, hang, or lean anything on sprinkler system piping, fittings, or sprinkler heads.
• Do not allow ambient temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit where fire sprinkler system is located.
• Do not expose CPVC pipe or fittings to open flame, or soldering flux.

• Do not expose CPVC pipe or fittings to incompatible substances, such as cutting oils, non-water based paints, fungicides, insecticides, detergents, building caulks, adhesive tape, flexible wire/cable, spray foam insulation materials, or glycol-based antifreeze fluids.
• Do not ground electrical wiring to the sprinkler system.

Sprinkler Piping in the Attic

Warning About Sprinkler Piping in Attic

Prevent damage to your sprinkler piping by never turning the heat below 50ºF during winter months. Because fire sprinkler pipes are located under insulation, use extreme caution when entering and working in an attic, and do not step directly on pipes. After work is complete, use care to assure that all insulation is returned to its proper place to prevent possible freezing of pipes. Any attic storage or flooring will compress the insulation and reduce its insulating qualities and effectiveness.
